Crazy Sunday. Some good sports on in the afternoon, and a good game of cards in the evening. And since I'm sure all my faithful readers out there are tired of seeing a bunch of writing, so I'm going to shake things up today and try something new. We'll do a good, bad, and the ugly theme of points. See you on the other side...

THE GOOD:

  • The Mariners, fresh off an Ichiro extension, are said to be ready to extend fellow OF Jose Guillen, whom the team has an option for 2008.
  • J.J. Putz became the Mariners consecutive saves leader with 28 in row, passing Everyday Eddie (27). Putz is also a perfect 26/26 in save opps on the season, and is becoming a reliable TWO inning closer ala a young Mariano. Very good feeling knowing he's back there in the bullpen.
  • Mariners spilt the Detroit series 2-2. A big series as far as seeing whether this team can hang with the big boys, and this was a good start. M's 3 back in the west, two back in the wild card.
  • Wasn't sure if this is filed under the good or bad, but Horacio Ramirez comes off the DL to start tonight...
  • Bruce Bowen doing what he always does, this time against little kids.
  • Presidential candidates finally figure out what gets the voters! Hot women!
  • Linsdey Lohan is sober! For real! she just left rehab totally clean! I really mean it this time! she even has an "alcohol detector" on her ankle, which I would really like to know how it works...
  • Jeff Green finished off his summer league with 32 and 13, going 10-18 from the field and 10-14 from the line. Durant finished with 28.
  • The New Tacoma Narrows is open!
  • Wlademir Balentien and Adam Jones both homered again in Tacoma's 10-9 win over Fresno. They now have 21 and 23 on the season respectively.
  • The MLS could be coming to Seattle in the near future...

THE BAD:

  • America is no longer the tallest country in the world.
  • Brandon Morrow couldn't hit the ocean from the beach. The flame throwing youngster who at one time was an important set up man for us, has 35 bb in 34 ip. He's been demoted to a roll in the bullpen where he can pitch in games that don't matter so that he doesn't have to throw strikes. Love his potential, but he needs more work (preferably in the minors where it won't be hurting the M's)
  • Ichiro took a 96 mph fastball from Justin Verlander right in the knee. x-rays were negative and hes listed as day to day, although he was limping badly and had to leave the game.
  • Art Thiel says Seattle is falling off the sports map.
  • Bed bugs are making a comeback in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Generally if someone is killed at your house, and you happen to be harvesting large amounts of pot, you MIGHT try and hide some of it...
  • As stated earlier, the M's split the Detroit series 2-2. Good for the standings, but the Mariners were thoroughly outclassed according to USS Mariner.

THE UGLY:

  • The Seattle Sonics went 0-5 in Summer League, even managing to lose to the Blazers, who were without Greg Oden.
  • In 126 minutes of summer league play, Kevin Durant grabbed a whopping 8 rebounds. A lanky three point shooter who doesn't rebound... remind you of anyone?
  • Kasey Kahne finished 32nd at Chicago, and it 24th in the standings. This just one year removed from making the Chase and leading all of Nascar with 6 victories.
  • US Men's National Team, (USMNT Soccer) couldn't even make it out of the group stages in the Copa America, and the U-20 lost in the quarterfinals of the U-20 World Cup to underdog Austria.
  • Kam Mickolio threw 19 balls to only 17 strikes in blowing Ryan Feierabend's first start back in AAA. The M's need just ONE of their young flamethrowers to learn how to throw a strike.
  • Chuck got Wasted, Rashid and Jeff got angry, Leo got a little gay, Screech got a Dawgs VHS, Dean got bored, and I lost money in cards. At least we drank a lot of beer...
