Hargrove Resigns!

In some shocking news today, Mariners manager Mike Hargrove will reportedly step down from his job today. The Mariners are 44-33, and on a 7 game winning streak which makes his timing quite suprising. Not to say I'm too sad, as I have never been a big fan. My hopes were that GM Bill Bavasi would be the first to go, and Mike would follow him out the door. I have no idea what this means to Bavasi's job security, or who a new manager would be (Joe Girardi anyone?). I have been saying for some time that I would like to see Hargrove go, for a couple of reasons:
  1. I'm sick of him making All-Star 2b Jose Lopez bunt all the damn time...
  2. He cannot set a line-up and stick with it, changing them almost daily...
  3. His biggest offense to me is his blatant disregard for his bullpen, just tearing up young arm after young arm (thankfully one of his victims Mark Lowe will be back soon)
  4. His mismanagement of games, making odd or wrong pinch hitting/running choices...

All in all he wasnt a bad manager, but when your manager is often being out managed AND hes killing the young arms on the team its never a good thing. I'll be watching the press conference in about 10 minutes (11:40 PT) to see what the "exact" reasons are for his departure.
